The rDNA Internal Transcribed Spacer Region as a Taxonomic Marker for Nematodes1
نویسندگان
چکیده
The ITS region from a wide taxonomic range of nematodes, including secernentean and adenophorean taxa, and free-living, entomopathogenic, and plant-parasitic species, was evaluated as a taxonomic marker. Size of the amplified product aided in the initial determination of group membership, and also suggested groups that may require taxonomic reevaluation. Congeneric species often displayed identically sized ITS regions, but genera such as Pratylenchus and Tylenchorhynchus had species with large differences in size. ITS heterogeneity in individuals and populations was identified in several nematode taxa. PCR-RFLP of ITSI is advocated as a method of taxonomic analysis in genera such as Helicotylenchus that contain numerous species with few diagnostic morphological characteristics.

Molecular Identification of Rare Clinical Mycobacteria by Application of 16S-23S Spacer Region Sequencing
Objective(s) In addition to several molecular methods and in particular 16S rDNA analysis, the application of a more discriminatory genetic marker, i.e., 16S-23S internal transcribed spacer gene sequence has had a great impact on identification and classification of mycobacteria. In the current study we aimed to apply this sequencing power to conclusive identification of some Iranian clinical ...
متن کاملDNA barcoding of Mangroves using Ribosomal ITS Marker in Rhizophoraceae
DNA barcode is a very short, standardized DNA sequence in a well-known gene. It provides a way to identify the species to which a plant, animal or fungus it belongs. One of the most popular sequences identification is achieved by comparing DNA sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear ribosomal cistron. DNA barcoding is a new concept of identifying unknown organisms b...
متن کاملIsolation and identification of aquatic saprolegnious stramenopiles in Fars and Kermanshah provinces (west of Iran)
The order Saprolegniales includes pathogenic species of aquatic and terrestrial plants and aquatic animals including fish. These straminipilous fungi play an important role as a decomposing component which participates in the destruction processes of organic substrates and self-cleaning biological processes in freshwater ecosystems. In this study, samples of brown decayed twigs, leaves, woods a...
متن کاملMorphometric Taxonomy of Siphonous Green Algae: a Methodological Study within the Genus Halimeda (bryopsidales)
Species-level taxonomy of Bryopsidalean genera is often based on quantifiable morphological characters. Yet there are relatively few examples of statistically founded morphometric studies within this group of siphonous algae and macroalgae in general. Molecular phylogenetic studies have revealed cases of cryptic diversity in several Bryopsidalean genera and call for new approaches toward taxono...

Lettuce is belong to the Cichorium family with leaf consumption, Annual cold weather plants and rich in minerals, vitamins and nutrients. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the genetic diversity of 15 varieties and lettuce populations using the ITS area. Sequence quality was evaluated using Chromas 2.1.1 software, aligned by MegAlign 5 software and then similarity matrix and dendrogra...
